Overview

Leadership, Critical Thinking and Resilience Course

Today’s teens need more than good grades — they need confidence, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and the ability to lead in a world shaped by AI and constant change. Our Teen Leadership Programme for ages 13–15 helps young people discover what they’re truly capable of.

Learning That Feels Real

Forget passive classrooms. Through immersive simulations, students navigate real-world leadership challenges — managing team conflict, making decisions under pressure, responding to crises and thinking on their feet. These mirror situations leaders face every day, and the transformation is remarkable. Confidence soars. Communication sharpens. Self-awareness deepens.

Students also take part in reflective exercises, case studies and collaborative challenges designed to build resilience, problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Flagship Project: The Digital AI Newspaper

At the heart of the programme is our Digital AI Newspaper project. Students collaborate to research, write, and publish their own newspaper on Artificial Intelligence, exploring real-world topics such as the ethical use of AI and its impact on education — building critical thinking, digital literacy, and teamwork along the way.

Their work is published on LOF’s social media and LinkedIn, giving every student a real audience and genuine pride in their learning. Students then deliver a final pitch to a panel, putting their confidence, communication, and presentation skills to the ultimate test.

Flexible Delivery

The programme runs weekly throughout the academic term and is available both in person and online. Every session is hands-on, experience-led and built to challenge young people to step up.

This programme goes beyond the classroom. Students discover who they are as leaders, explore different leadership styles and learn to think critically, gaining the confidence and skills that make a real difference in school and in life.

Progression

This qualification will provide progression opportunities to other ILM qualifications, such as:

ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management Award

Plus, they will support and enhance the completion of other established recognised pathways such as:

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
GCSEs, A Levels or NVQs
Community or Junior Sports Leaders Awards Level 1 or 2

*There is a one-off ILM registration and CREST STEM Bronze Award fee that is included in the first module’s course fees.

About Programme

Unleashing the Leader Within: A 12-Month Journey of Growth

Our 13+ programme is thoughtfully structured into three progressive modules over 12 months, designed to develop strong, self-aware leaders. From personal mastery to leading teams, each term builds essential life and leadership skills. Students emerge more confident, resilient, and ready to thrive in the real world.

Module 1-Term 1- Self-Leadership and Self Awarenesss

This course empowers students to take charge of their academic and personal lives by developing self-leadership and self-awareness.
Through hands-on activities, reflections, and real-world examples, students will learn how to lead themselves with confidence and responsibility.
They will explore their personal values, understand how their behaviour affects others, and build skills to set meaningful goals, stay motivated, and adapt to challenges.

Module 2- Term 2-Critical thinking and Resilience

In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world, the ability to think critically and creatively, combined with resilience, is essential.
This course is designed to equip students with the vital skills necessary to conquer academic challenges and drive personal growth.
Through a powerful blend of critical analysis, innovative problem-solving, and resilience-building techniques, students will learn to tackle problems with confidence, adaptability, and a positive mindset.
These skills will empower learners to excel, lead, and achieve success both academically and personally.

Module 3-Term 3-Leadership and Creative Thinking

This course equips participants with essential leadership and team management skills to inspire and manage teams effectively.
Participants will explore key leadership principles, team dynamics, and management strategies, focusing on clear communication, task delegation, conflict resolution, and fostering a positive team environment.
Through case studies, role-playing, and practical exercises, students will build the confidence and competencies needed to lead teams toward shared goals.
